(VIDEO) A Funny Night in February
Once again, Libris komunkacije & Udruga urbani ured brought the London Calling Comedy project back to Čakovec welcoming an overwhelming turn-out of more than 500 English stand-up comedy fans.
On 8th February, a new trio of comedians hit the stage at the Centar za kulturu in Čakovec, ready to entertain an overwhelming 500 strong crowd of London Calling comedy fans. This was the second time the project had been staged in Čakovec (twice at Varaždin's theatre and once at the Špancirfest festival) and this time pleasantly surprised us all with a full theatre including the balcony who simply came for two reasons: to laugh and have fun!
The evening unfolded rapidly with the three international acts doing what they know best, keeping the crowd smiling and hitting the funny bones throughout the auditorium. The February tour (Zagreb - Sisak - Ćakovec - Osijek) had a certain feminine touch to it as we introduced the first female act to this region namely Kim Hope from Austrailia together with Kevin Shepherd from England and the headliner for the show, Mark Felgate, also from England who has a remarkable talent of playing tricks with his voice!
In addition to the three acts flown over from London, there were a further two more local acts which were specially invited to perform within the London Calling project. The Croatian stand-up comedy scene continues to grow steadily and as comedy shouldn't have any barriers, including Croatian stand-up acts alongside international acts simply enhances the evening even more! Female comediene, Andrea Andrassy from Zagreb tickled us all with her observational offbeat humour and Domagoj Pintarić from Zagreb made us all roll over with laughter becoming perhaps one of the strongest performers of the night! So 5 comedians for 40kn lasting more than 2 and a half hours certainly gives you value for money!!!
Special thanks have to be given to our sponsors of the project in Čakovec namely TZ Grada Čakovec who have been behind the concept since we suggested cooperation in October 2011. In addition, the local schools and institutions have shown strong support for this form of urban 'English' entertainment encouraging not only a fun night out but also to experience an 'English language' event unique to this area of Croatia.
Many will be glad to know we are already planning the third show in Čakovec, hopefully in April, expecting once again a full-house of people who simply appreciate English stand-up comedy.
